Toubkal Circuit

WHERE:  Atlas Mountains,  Morocco

 

WHAT:  10 night trip to Morocco to explore the valleys and villages of the Atlas mountains and ascend the highest peak in North Africa, Jebel Toubkal at  4167m/13671ft

 

Itinerary :

Day1: Marrakesh to Oukaimden – 2 hours in minibus Meet with Jamal at the Marrakech airport and drive to Oukaimden ski station, stopping en-route. Camp or stay in Refuge, option to hike around or climb the peak of Oukaimden if we arrive early.

 

Day 2: Oukaimden to Tacheddirt – 6 hours trekking After breakfast, hike up to Tizi n Addi pass 2920m, hike down to Tachdirt village. Camp near Tachdirt

 

Day 3: Tachdirt Camp to Aouray – 9 hours trekking Early breakfast then 4 hours trek to top of Tizi Likkemt 3555m. Rest and photos, then 2 hours trekking down to get to Azib Likkemt for lunch. After lunch 3 hours trekking to Aouray, camp the night.

 

Day 4: Aouray to Ifni Lake – 6 hours trekking After breakfast, 30 minute trek to Tizi N Aouray, first stop for enjoying some views of Amsouzart valley and Toubkal summit. Then 2:30 hours trekking to Amsouzart village and lunch, near the village of Git. After lunch, 3 hours trek to Lake Ifni.

 

Day 5: Lake Ifni to Fokssriy – 4 hours trekking Steady climb to get to Fokssriy, camp for the night.

 

Day 6: Fokssriy – Toubkal summit 4167m – 8 hours trekking Early morning breakfast and early hike up to the summit to enjoy the sunrise. Hike down to the refuge, night at the refuge 3207m.

 

Day 7: Toubkal refuge – Imlil – transfer to Marrakech – 4 hours trekking After breakfast, descend fairly rapidly to the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Armed, before following the Maizane River, along a forested trail, to Imlil. Transfer back to Marrakech.

 

2 to 3 nights in Marrakesh depending on flights.
